Daniel 3 New International Version 1984 The Image of Gold and the Fiery Furnace 1King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold, ninety feet high and nine feeta wide, and set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. 2He then summoned the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials to come to the dedication of the image he had set up. 3So the satraps, prefects, governors, advisers, treasurers, judges, magistrates and all the other provincial officials assembled for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up, and they stood before it. 4Then the herald loudly proclaimed, “This is what you are commanded to do, O peoples, nations and men of every language: 5As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. 6Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.” 7Therefore, as soon as they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp and all kinds of music, all the peoples, nations and men of every language fell down and worshiped the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. 8At this time some astrologersb came forward and denounced the Jews. 9They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, “O king, live forever! 10You have issued a decree, O king, that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold, 11and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace. 12But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego—who pay no attention to you, O king. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.” 13Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, 14and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? 15Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” 16Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” 19Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual 20and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. 21So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. 22The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, 23and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace. 24Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, O king.” 25He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” 26Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!” So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, 27and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them. 28Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. 29Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.” 30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon. WILL YOU BE A SHADRACH, MESHACH OR ABEDNEGO? OR WILL YOU BE A TEBOW... SOMEONE WHO ENDORSES AND APPROVES OF THINGS HONORING THE PAGAN GODDESS NIKE AS THE GODDESS OF VICTORY? Then an evil man named Phil Knight comes up and tempts Kevin Durant and Tim Tebow with a lot of money to promote his company named in honor of NIKE... Kevin Durant and Tim Tebow accept the money... and I stand up and say "How can you possibly endorse or wear anything honoring another god for victory? Think about what you're doing and stop!" Durant turned down a 7-year 70 million deal with Adidas to take a 7-year 60 million deal with Nike! Durant was so influenced by Satan that he actually turned down 10 million dollars to endorse Nike... the company honoring the pagan goddess of victory! Satan tempts people to buy Nike to honor his goddess Nike... and they do. Consequently, NIKE is the #1 selling sportswear company in the world! According to what we know... Durant has a contract for 60 million to insult God! Let's pray that Kevin Durant becomes a better role model by dropping Nike to endorse Love Sportswear through Adidas! Imagine seeing Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, Manny Pacquiao and other Christians dropping Nike to endorse Love Sportswear. Then imagine Christians everywhere getting rid of Nike and replacing it with Love Sportswear! Then imagine non-Christians seeing Christians around the world honoring Jesus Christ for His love! I was one of the top basketball players in Oklahoma back in 1984... so I love basketball... but I love God even more and have been called by God to go against Nike and wake up my brothers and sisters in Christ... and then we can wake up others in this world. God has called me to rescue those used by Satan to dishonor God. Kevin is one of those people! With all of the money involved... it is not easy... but nothing is impossible with God! God had me get the truth to Durant a days before the 3rd NBA Finals game. It is important to note that when Tebow disobeyed God and continued to endorse Nike... his play went spiraling down! What have you seen happen to Durant lately? Durant is normally known as a guy you can count on to close the game. In Game 2 of the NBA Finals... Durant got into foul trouble and went to the basket too early... missing an easy shot that would have tied the game. Had he scored... Miami would have had time to score too. Not wise! In Game 3 of the NBA Finals... Durant got into foul trouble again and wasn't even really trying to score in the final minutes! Durant played one of his worst playoff games because he continues to insult God with Nike! He will be disciplined by God for doing so! Durant needs to respect God and listen to my warning! Chalmers said this about Durant after he scored 25 in game 4: "I knew with KD on me, I was going to have a lot of open looks." Chalmers only had an average of 10.7 in the playoffs, but he scored 25 pts in game 4! **Durant... How does that feel to be insulted?** How do you think Jesus Christ feels about you insulting Him? Durant... What happens when your Nike endorsement decision hurts your play and your team suffers? There are others to consider... people you will let down because you refused to respect the Word of God enough to turn from sin! For 40 years this world has been enslaved by Satan to honor the goddess Nike and dishonor God! God has called me to help free Durant and others from Satan's slavery because God deserves the honor! God is now disciplining people for the sin of honoring the goddess Nike! Pray that Durant drops Nike fast! The sooner he does, the sooner he will please God and receive God's blessing! Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back for good— no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord. I have heard about Durant's humbleness... and this will really test it. Satan will want to use pride and greed for money in order to get Durant to disobey God. This illustration should help... Durant will be rewarded in Heaven for what he does here on earth. If he chooses to spend his life honoring the pagan goddess Nike and encouraging people around the world to buy it... He will not receive any blessings in Heaven for that! He may have a mansion down here... but as he insults the True God of Victory... He is certainly not contributing to a mansion in Heaven where he will spend an eternity with the One he insults! The sins of some men are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. 1 Timothy 5:24 The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor. Proverbs 15:33 Let's hope Durant is humble enough and wise enough to know that he should fear the Lord and honor Him as the God of Victory! Jesus Christ is insulted by all of the Nike things around the world and Durant is adding to the insult! I would like to encourage Durant to do the right thing. Yes Kevin... you have been paid a lot of money to sin against God... but love covers a multitude of sins. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 "Despite what the devil will try to convince you of, I have been called by God to go against Nike and follow Christ in promoting His love through Love Sportswear.
